I think this wasn’t meant as an attack, it’s just a legit point depending on work context. I had a mixed context where some engineers refused to work with tools/libraries, etc that were not commercial licensed. This has to do with liability. They wanted someone to blame. Sigh.
If I hadn’t be ‘boss’ they would have tried to mob my FOSS efforts out of the company. As it was, I limited the scope of their work (network systems administration, routing, hardware) and all was good. They felt ‘safe’. They felt this was professional behavior. I did not, but had a place for them, anyway. And I did not want THAT responsibility
