Lack of contactless payments

I am still wating for my batch #1 phone and am really curios about how I will adapt. I regularly leave the house without any wallet and just my phone cause I know that in most places I can pay just with my phone as well. Now after ordering I found out that this will not be the case with my soon-to-be new phone, but I will try to find some workarounds. Maybe get a somewhat fitting flip case in which I carry my debit card so I can continue to leave the house with “just my phone”, I’ll see.

Based on the Protective Covers thread Jolla Phone protective covers - #57 by lhodas saying Xiaomi Note 13 is dimensionally compatible, I ordered a wallet cover for the Xiaomi model. I’ll let everybody know how well it works when I receive my JP2601.

What’s to stop you just putting a debit card sandwiched between the phone and a standard case? I have seen people do that before. Heck, I used to keep cash there!

Right, I totally forgot about that. My wife does that, I think I like this solution even more, it’s “thinner”. I’ll give it a try in my daily life once I get the phone

There is a risk given that a standard case offers no RFID protection. Sure that is the point if you want to pay with it, but bad actors could exploit this given the fact that there would be no 2fa interaction with the phone.

about contactless/mobile payments they arent as secure as some people would think https://youtu.be/PPJ6NJkmDAo

Which is largely theoretical I think. Millions of people have their cards in their wallets and banks aren’t freaking out about this.

That might be true. There was a lot of talk about it in my town some time back, and it might have just stuck with me. At least my wallet contains an RFID-proof tag labeled into the leather, but my wallet is also quite old. I have not checked whether this is still relevant.

get the Note 13 Pro+ cover, it has an opening for the flash…
