I installed MicroG (v/0.3.15) at first startup of my JP26, now I cannot uninstall it.
When uninstalling it from Jolla Store it shows uninstalled in the Jolla store, and “Allow MicroG” in AppSupport is unticked, but the app is still there. Fdroid also shows it as still installed.
Due to some problems I also experienced with MobilePay in my 10iii I wished to go back to an earlier MicroG version (v/0.3.10) but it is not possible since I cannot uninstall the one SFOS installed at startup.
Has anybody else seen this? Do anyone have a suggestion how to make SFOS uninstall the 0.3.15 version?
Maybe you could downgrade it in the F-Droid store, but for me I haven’t had any issues with the version of microG that comes with the JP2061, even with MobilePay. You just have to manually install MobilePay version 10.16.0 (4429694), because later versions have issues with device registration/PIN acceptance.
If you don’t know how to install certain version manually, you go to the MobilePay’s store page in the Aurora Store, hit the three dots in the top right corner, select “Manual download” and then enter the number 4429694 to the promt.
I have Mobilepay version 10.16.0 installed. I know this is the last version that work on 64bit phones.
(Mobilepay stopped releasing new versions for 32bit phones like XA2, at version 10.9.0)
My problem is that MicroG version 0.3.15 does not handle notifications correct. My JP26 worked fine (and I’m quite happy with it) for a week, I could make payments with Mobilepay without problems. But then I purchased something online, and the shop sent me a payment-request which never came through, then I tried to open Mobilepay, but it had crashed and now required re-installation.
In MicroG there is a setting allowing notifications to open the app, and this notification-system is not working properly in v/0.3.15, it crashes the app and leaves some garbage data requiring re-installation. I can re-install and it works fine until the next payment-request. I had the same problem in my 10iii and it was solved by going back to MicroG v 0.3.10.
In the place where I live we have an android doorbell-system, also here MicroG v/ 0.3.15 cannot open the app when a notification comes in. But MicroG 0.3.10 can.
It is not possible to uninstall the SFOS installed MicroG via Fdroid, it does not offer the option, and when it cannot be fully uninstalled it is not possible to install an older version.

The 0.3.16 version is also not possible to install from Fdroid on top of the SFOS MicroG, and I do prefer to install from well known stores.
I was just really surprised that the uninstall functionality in the Jolla store actually do not uninstall the app. I seem to recall Jolla somewhere wrote it was possible to uninstall the MicroG they offer at startup.
I’m afraid for now I would have to do a factory reset and go through the whole setup again, without installing the SFOS offered MicroG, and then install MicroG from Fdroid.
Try a full reinstall of android support first, not sure if guides on the forum will be still applicable on 15 but the ones for XIII+ have a chance to work and get you at clean AAS state without losing all other data

You are right to be wary of where you install your applications, but in this instance the source is the MicroG github, so I’d say it should be OK.
The risk here lies in the prerelease either not having a fix, or having another regression that makes matters even worse, but given the alternative of reinstalling from scratch I thought it might be worth taking
