Hey, just wanted to pop in and say that I’m interested in the jollaphone. Issue is I’m from the US, so I’m hoping this will hopefully influence the idea of going into the US market.

neither of those threads posted are relevant to this thread, and the last post in each predates the JP2 announcement
as for your question, i purchased a voucher in batch2 using a USA credit card and billing address, with the intention of having it shipped to my friend in poland. HOWEVER, i have yet to receive my email, and no response from shop-jolla-dot-com when i emailed asking about it two weeks ago.
i am afraid that even though the phone will be shipped to poland, for a polish recipient, if you have a US billing address they plan on just ignoring you. i dont know this for a fact tho.
(as for SFOS in USA, ive been using it in NY since the very beginning, going straight from my Nokia N9 to sailfish, to an xperia X, to an XZ2c, to 10 II, and finally now on 10 III. there are no major problems and never have been, except for weak signal due to a missing LTE band. that will be fixed in the JP2, which will be the first ever SFOS global phone)

no. the OP was not talking about the already much-talked-about ‘how does SFOS work in USA’, like those other threads. questions about that should be in one of those two posts. (the last paragraph of my post is also about ‘how does SFOS work in USA’, and that paragraph is irrelevant to the actual point, and hence i put it in parentheses)
the original comment is about the new JP2, and how jolla said they will consider selling it to USA markets if demand was present. that doesn’t really have anything to do with SFOS, actually.
=> this thread is about something that doesn’t have a dedicated thread and isn’t being discussed much.
edit: the OP might not have been aware that SFOS is and has always been available in the US (though not officially supported there), and might be conflating SFOS and the new JP2. in that case, those other threads should clear up that confusion quickly, though those posts, in fact, have nothing to do with the new widely-discussed jolla phone mentioned in the OP’s comment.

I want a SP2 phone as well. Still miss my N9 all these years later.

you said it. last decent phone i ever owned, and even then i was mad it wasn’t as good as the N900. i understand not selling here though. google being the devil is the only reason sailfish exists. europe, and the rest of the world, needs to decrease dependence on american tech, as american tech becomes more and more dystopian with each passing year.
I assumed SFOS worked in the US, but thank you for confirmation, and I am indeed talking about JP2 as my current phones model is from 2023 iirc.

I had an N900 too. Lost it while climbing on and off equipment when clearing land. I was pissed. Got the N9 to replace it. Hope springs eternal for a Jolla phone with SF.

Does SFOS support the Nord N200? (Also SFOS is paid right?). I would be willing to put it on my current phone until JP2 is sold in the US.

@teleshoes You should be getting your email – soon, I hope. I also bought the voucher with a US billing address and got the “complete your purchase” email just last Friday. I picked a package forwarding service, got a shipping address, and paid the final amount with a US credit card thru paypal. So hopefully yours comes soon, too.
@ThineCyberCat You can directly register your interest with Jolla by going to the Jolla Phone Shop page and scrolling allllllllllllllllll the way to the bottom – where it is hidden as is the Jolla way 
– and it finally says: " Sign up to show your interest and help us assess potential availability in the US and other countries outside the EU, UK, Norway and Switzerland."

thanks so much! that’s quite a relief to hear. with batch#3 getting emails, i was starting to worry that my billing address was the reason.
as of right now, the only phones with official SFOS support (i.e.: with AndroidAppSupport) that work in the US are the Xperia 10 III and the 10 II. (the mark3 is strictly better than the mark2).
really good community editions for many phones exist, but they all lack Android AppSupport (although some have waydroid, which is similar) and most lack VoLTE, which is mandatory in the US.
to my knowledge, there is no community edition for that specific phone.
official versions for Sony Xperia phones require a one-time license purchase. community versions for all phones are free, and are not directly supported by Jolla, but are encouraged and welcomed by Jolla. the JP2 will not require any license or subscription.
