Hi, I’m very new here. I saw something about the development of a Jolla smartwatch. But the last news is from 2016. I wonder if this development is still ongoing? Thx, Ed.
It sounds like a proof-of-concept like the Sailfish OS version for feature phones
I agree 100% to OP.
Jolla should release a smartwatch right after the Jolla J2 release wave has been handled.
Sailfish OS is too good to leave the smartwatch market alone.
I’m just saying that I need to replace my Amazfit Bip S (I accidentally broke the screen glass) and if that happens, I already know what my next watch will be ![]()
Fixed the title.
What about asteroid OS?
I’m thinking about a Pebble Round 2 because it has an always-on display, isn’t overloaded with gimmicks, and has a battery life measured in weeks.
But If there was a comparable Sailfish watch I would happily buy one instead ![]()
This looks like a great project!
If anyone has a watch with this OS, it would be worth checking its compatibility with Amazfish! ![]()
Had it on my wrist, it was mockup made on asteroidos. Just go use asteroidos it’s basically the same thing as jolla would do
And as far as I know that idea is completely and absolutely abandoned
PS: If you think i’m bullshitting, here’s my much younger wrist
This proof of concept was based on Asteroid OS. This is also the reason why you find this watch among the Asteroid OS supported devices. I know it would have been a new format, but if it was that easy to port, why didn’t they release SFOS for Smartwatches the more users the better ![]()
Pebble Time 2 has a black with red variant that would fit nicely with J2.
Though you can always have a Round 2 with a red band.
I’m the most boring person on the planet. You can bet I will order both the Jolla and the watch in all black. ![]()
Yes, Amazfish has support for AsteroidOS watches.
Although pinephone has all its problems, I have a very good experience using pinetime and it is supported by Amazfish. I don’t think Jolla have the manpower at the moment (to even work on both actually supporting xperia 10 v and jolla c2 and jolla c3 and maybe the AI box)
Its not quite the Sailfish / Silica UI as claimed in the video title attached below.
But AsteroidOS has the same origins like SailfishOS like explained in other comments and we share quite some community Members.
I have recreated the 3 watchfaces that can be prominently seen in the Jolla Watch blogpost from 2016. Which at least gives the SailfishOS vibe on the watchface homescreen and the origami wallpaper in the launchers.
The license is cleared and i am in process to publish them next week into the AsteroidOS unofficial-watchfaces repo.
If you have one of our support watches laying around, its quite easy to install AsteroidOS and learn to develop your own watchfaces or apps.
The Jolla Watch watchfaces can be seen in this video from FOSDEM 2026
