Jolla Phone, is it possible to buy from and ship to US

I was curious since I live in California if I buy the phone would it ship here or do you have to live in Europe to be able to buy the phone

Well, what does it say on the page?

No direct shipping to North America, but you can use a re-shipping service from one of the approved shipping destinations.

In the past I’ve used https://myswissmailaddress.com/en/ successfully when ordering the Jolla C2 to ship to Canada.

https://www.forward2me.com/ He can bring it for you, and I will use this method too.

I paid my deposit with my US billing address and used a Forward2Me shipping address in the UK when Jolla sent me the “complete your order” email. So far I haven’t heard anything going wrong, payment went through . . .

I’m a bit concerned that I might have to pay two import taxes by doing it this way, but Jolla has indicated in a post somewhere (that I can’t find this instant) that they will be contacting customers ordering from outside their direct shipping footprint about this issue, so perhaps there’s some good news there yet to come. And US import taxes can change on a literal whim, so I’m probably worrying about the wrong thing anyway.

I’ll warn you about buying global phones, signal integrity due to missing bands will make things difficult. 4G will be okay in certain urban spots, but 5G will be non-existent due to regulations around modems. Suffered that with the Xperia 10iii which didn’t release in the US.

Otherwise, yes, using a proxy shipping service will allow you to import the device.

Youl couldn’t use your X10 III in the US at all?
I’m in Australia on Vodafone but could happily roam in the US and Canada

@WedgeStratos may just be referring to 5G, which doesn’t work for me in Canada either.

Alas 5G has never worked for me… I might try an upgraded SIM card one day to test

I don’t believe SFOS supports VoNR at all on any device yet. I use a fairphone 5 in the US, and 5g works for data (T-Mo) but phone has to drop back to 4g and Vo?TE for calling.

It’s good advice above to check potential imported phones for compatibility. With the J2 I’m kinda just hoping based on their international usability claims. Normally I consult Kimovil for that info, which doesn’t exist yet for J2. Just having the bands is no guarantee of course, but it can rule out a device rhat would never work in one’s home network.
