Maybe a bit OT, but for those not picking up the device in-person, can we expect ours to be in the post on this date?

It’s all coming around very fast, and i’m assuming that if there ready to lay in peoples hands then they’re ready to be dispatched across the globe.

Understanding that 10,000 devices won’t go out at once, but if I was among the first couple of dozen to pre-order, would I be expecting a dispatch confirmation by July 8th too?

@Jolla @rainemak According to Rescue Service of Helsinki an event with more than 200 persons must be notified to them before hand (and whether pyrotechnics etc would be planned to be used). I’m pretty sure you’ve taken care of this already, but you must have a lot to remember and under huge workload … so just informing
(happened to have a discussion about this exact same thing with a local fire authority today)

Hope to then see you some other time! All the best

We can always offer to help at the place and yes, I’m happy to help if needed.

IIRC they have said that they start shipping after the event, so probably 9.7. Of course nicer if they are able to ship them even a little sooner

They announced a long time ago how things will go.
People from batch 1 2 3 will have the option to get a ticket to the event (even the amount was changed from 500 seats to 800 I believe) and get their device right there. Then batch 1 shipments start the same day and when they are done follows batch 2, 3 and it should take up to end of August as they calculated.
Then September will be the 4th and then 5th batch.

Did you buy the phone in the first 3 batches? Cause as far as we know everyone had the chance to claim a ticket if they wanted.

Never mind, my friend. I brought up some things even for the 4.5 party, but it doesn’t really matter. There’s nothing to do. It’s best to just let it flow.

I hope everyone will be happy with the device on July 8. I really hope it won’t be a device full of performance and optimization problems like the Xperia 10 V. That’s my biggest fear about this device. They didn’t give many detailed explanations about optimization; they only said it will come with 5.2. Let’s see, hopefully it turns out as good as we expect.

As far as I understand, the notifications has to be done due to rescue planning, but I would assume there is law about venues needing one anyway, so the event organizer don’t have to do notifications as long as they stay within the safety regulations of the venue (or the venue will take care of the notification based on reservation sizes).

Back in the end of 2013 (I think?) when Jolla 1 released someone made a google docs spreadsheet where people could put in their (nick)name, order date, shipping date and possibly their order number, country and date of arrival IIRC. That way people could track how close their order was to shipping compared to the orders that had been shipped already.

Might be something to consider doing again if there’s interest. If so, it should probably be made and maintained by a trusted community member and not some random Joe (i.e. me).

Edit: found the document for both Jolla 1 and the device that shall not be named. I guess it was done more than once.

i am intensely interested in exactly when, as i will be in foreign parts end-July to start-August.

Is there a way for us who missed out on the initial batch of tickets to this event to get one now or to get on a wait-list? I am in batch 3.

Thanks!

It was advertised in the order no?

For those coming from outside Finland, you should be aware that there is currently ongoing work on various train lines around Helsinki. It very likely will have zero impact you, particularly if you are set up in a hotel in the city center, and you can easily get around with a mix of metro, trams, and buses – however if your hotel is further out then just be mindful of the following and plan accordingly (routes replaced with buses, hybrid of some train + bus, etc.). Trains from the airport run as normal.

The HSL app isn’t going to provide unavailable routes though, so if you stick to that then you’ll be fine

I’ve made an Etherpad to retain an overview of the side events: Etherpad-Lite chez Ouvaton !
Feel free to add items, but please do keep it concise. It’s an index. Might be good to also add a few items about public transport or so.

I don’t think so, the ticket is just for you alone!

Unfortunately I won’t be able to be there, Italy is quite far away, so I can give my ticket to anyone who wants it, but I don’t know how to do it.
