Need to wait for RAW a little while longer I guess 
I have an experimental build using a Jolla-Camera fork for the UI. Mind you it is not stable, only works for the main camera, only for JP2, and bloated setting are only for testing different features.

Boy, it is brilliant and lovely!
Bloated settings and not stable perhaps, but the most important thing, imo, is being able to have RAW, and that works, it is crazy and beautyful ! 
Second excellent thing is to have manual controls. Needs polishing/debug but is there!
And native JPG compression choice, native JPG denoising choice, wow!

Mini seems to be the best of them
I would agree.
However, for some uses, high compression and high denoising, hence small file size is better…
Original files sizes are now added to the tests and the difference, depending on the the denoising method used, is quite big.

This is just brilliant, can we get this as the official app interface? This is probably the nicest phone/cam interface I’ve ever tried.
When everything is auto, just click. But easily being able to adjust ISO/exposure/shutter, and just sliding down to get to the rest of the settings, fantastic.
Literally the only nitpick is that the photo has an extra ≈10% cropped out from the bottom of the preview, considering how impossible it is to easily crop a photo in sailfish this will annoy me, but whatever, Jolla should just clone this. It’s infinitely better than the brutal current photo app.
One last thing, can’t screenshot while the app is open!

I guess it is, but I meant also straightening (and even skewing).
The iOS gallery app editing is excellent, to crop/straighten takes seconds, in the Sailfish gallery edit mode… I mean you can’t even free crop. It’s a travesty.
Imageworks lets you free crop but the rotation part is 90’s GIMP level, the white borders it leaves! Nuts.
There’s a giant gap here with photo editing, but that’s understandable. I guess going forward it means having to be better at framing in camera, so good in a way.
Would love a decent upgrade of this area from Jolla though, this ^ camera interface, add in a decent and quick adjustment palette for contrats/black point/saturation/vignette/crop/straighten etc, that would really fix the single weakest part of Sailfish.
I mean the editing capabilities of the default install feel so basic and bad as to be a tech demo/placeholder, but it hasn’t been touched since the J1. I guess none of the Jolla team are into photography.

How can I open Raw16 files on a computer? I tried to open one with Luminar (and also renamed it to DNG).

Good work, impressive!
I like my photos to be crisper, without blurring the details too much. My Canon EOS 100D also produced photos like that with its default settings. But the noise it produces looks nicer—thanks to the larger sensor and better optics—more refined, so to speak.
Maybe someone can find a good software noise-reduction algorithm for JP26.

However, RAWfish can produce a DNG. This can be chosen in SfOS settings → Rawfish

I have done merely some qick tests with that great application, alpha or not, so far everything worked smoothly. I really like the interface. Thanks a lot for the effort mad_dev.
Without denoising filters there are suddenly way more details (jpeg mode) on the few test shots I made so far.
The denoising filters eat up some of those details so I think I really prefer the output without any denoising even if that means more noise than on the stock app. If the denoising filter can be improved however that would be great.

@mad_dev and @ric9k Thank you for your work with a camera app! I like it very much and I must admit that this was the first day I have played with the camera on Jolla Phone 2026!
I see that also Jolla has been doing quite some work on the built in camera app, so I wonder what comes out of it all in the end.
I hope you will continue with your app and add more features and most of all speed. Taking RAW images takes way to long time… And I still hope for better auto focus.
I’m smiling and have edited photos taken in RAW on my Jolla phone for the first time

I tried the latest release (alpha2). I greatly appreciate the effort being made, SFOS badly needs a better default camera app so kudos to everyone involved (mainly @mad_dev and @ric9k)! I like the depth of parameters available, but I think the UX could do with some streamlining (there is too much stuff always available on screen for my taste). I’m no developer nor graphic designer, but I’ll try to think about it some more and come up with more constructive and detailed feedback.
In the meantime, I had an idea for the icon of this app (since it currently has none) and I took the liberty to make a dirty draft with the help of AI (shame on me, but since this project seems to be using AI responsibly, I thought… why not?). I may try to properly recreate it but I’m just an amateur, so I’m not sure at all if I can recreate it as good as I envision it (I did the icon for “LL’s Video Player” back in the day, but that was a much simpler concept).
I’m sharing my proof of concept here, just in case a person with more talent than me wants to properly recreate it. Since the app is called “raw fish” I had this idea of using a piece of sushi seen from above as a camera lens, with avocado and fish eggs acting as “reflections”… the stripes on the salmon around look like a camera shutter. I’m actually surprised that the AI was able to understand my idea and recreate it so precisely and so quickly (for a proof of concept, at least).
What do you think?

Like @ric9k said, we have native DNG renders. You can enable it via the Settings → Apps →RAWfish →RAW capture files.
