Hello, I have some questions about the Jolla Sailfish. I would like to go back to Jolla Phone. I have the following questions. Can you use the Xperia 10 IV or 10 V as a daylidriver? Are there any advances on the camera? Is the Jolla C2 recommended? Thanks
It may be worth waiting for the next gen Jolla phone.
Look on topics about Xperias and C2. There’s bunch of unsolved bugs, so I’m waiting. My XA2 look like s###, but working. I’ve spare if needed. Even thinking about buy XA2 Plus for bigger RAM and storage.
IMO the best daily driver is still the X10iii.
C2 is Okay but big and slow.
Or a Community port but I know little about them.
I use the 10 V as daily driver, the only real issue for me is the missing camera support.
I can piggy-back on that, and say also the constant sim card losses after a call, the somewhat flaky bluetooth support (which sometimes, mostly after sim card loss, mysteriously disappears),
the volume issues, and last but not least the non-working whatsapp audio calls.
I never tried a WhatsApp call, but the rest I did not experience yet.
For me the Xperia 10 III is getting a bit old in the tooth and sluggish.
The C2 is even slower though, so like someone else suggested: wait for the next phone or buy a cheap 10 III second-hand.
Absolutely not.
I see more and more people asking about these goddamn Xperias and I blame Jolla for that, because they keep lying on their website by claiming those phones are officially supported.
They are not actually supported. They are in a very sorry state.
My Sony Xperia 10 V has no functioning camera, no working fingerprint sensor, no functional battery indicator, no autocorrect for the Jolla keyboard, etc.
Do yourself a favor and get a different phone.
What’s missing in basic features? 5G network is working on 10 III?
There are no missing “basics”, only trolls and system shills spreading “facts”. 5G and VoLTE are ok.
If data harvesting and telemetry is a basic - ok, that’s a missing “basic”.
P.S. WiFi Calling is still not implemented.
A C2 owner here. It depends on what you need for the daily driver however for my perspective, the following functinalities/capabilities are missing in C2 for daily driver.
eSim (eSims are everywhere nowadays) , unstable bluetooth connection, lack of a solid camera (feels like 10 years ago smartphone’s camera), lack of NFC for the payments, (esp. Europe) Whatsapp has some issues such as voice calls, lack of solid map/navigation apps, no wireless charging (not a dealbreaker tho)
5G might be optional in the area where I live in (poor coverage anyway)
What i need:
-
storage. Xa2 with 32gb sucks. I’m on critical less 1GB now. 10 III with 128GB looks good.
-
often and long phone conversations with internet simultaneously. 3G network is dead now in most countries including mine. So VoLTE or 5G is needed.
-
Bluetooth headset compatibility. I can buy proper model if needed.
-
Basic camera.
-
Alien Dalvik for Opera, Map Factor Navigator and TubeMate + plus less important apps.
-
faster GPS fix than XA2.
-
Hot Spot for sharing internet with few devices.
-
Calendar, Email, Messaging with MMS.
Other things like social media, banking apps, communicators - not needed.
Is there any problem with these points?
Xperia 10 ii was doing a great job but its impossible to find around ![]()
Nope.
All stuff U mentioned I got with my X10iii. Just get yourself one.
Edit: MMS has never been used by me. Hence not tested.
What about community ports, especially Volla and Fairphone? I want to bring someone to Jolla. I am using an old Sony that was discontinued long ago, so not familiar with current hardware.
Opinions about the Jolla C2 seem a bit mixed, and I am concerned by GPS issues, but perhaps it’s still the best new device choice?
I second this. Updating from XA2 to X10iii was the best decision for me.
I will wait until end of this month and sell my 10 V 8GB RAM. The device will be not used and wait for SFOS over an year ![]()
We are on the same boat. I have my Xperia 10 V in the drawer for a very long time, waiting for a fully working SFOS version.
I believe that, since talks started about a new Jolla phone in-the-making, Jolla’s priorities will be (1) New phone, (2) Jolla C2 and last (3) Xperia V and/or IV. Combining this with all the problems that they are facing nowadays, I personally do not expect that they (Jolla) will make any serious attempts to support the Xperia line… Purtroppo
yes, that is why we need real status of Jolla boys and not just thinks/wishes of community, so lets hope they will make it clear on the community meeting: Community meeting on 9th October 2025 - #11 by koza
