youtube shorts. PITA and landmark of enshittification. But SFOS looks good in it.

More importantly, most of the links are sorted by date of publication, latest on top. I’d like to ask contributors to observe this and try to maintain order.

The upcoming Jolla phone is covered briefly in an article in the FAZ (Frankfurter Allgemeine), one of the biggest German language general newspapers in Germany.

The article might be behind a paywall.
The article is about the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and talks about trends presented there, new products and the preceding paragraph closes with the Leica Leitzphone, then the short paragraph about Jolla finishes the article, roughly translated with non-artificial non-Intelligence:

“Even further into the Niche goes the Finnish manufacturer Jolla: Jolla not only presented their in Europe manufactured smartphone but in addition also their own-developed operating system that is intended to compete with Googles Android and Apples iOS.
10,000 devices are ordered currently, they will be produced this year in Salo, the very same place that was used in the past by Nokia for smartphone (Handy) assembly.”

(Händie aka Handy is pseudo-English expression that became popular in the 90s in Germany for cellular phones).

I think it is interesting because the FAZ is a really wide reaching mainstream newspaper in Germany, not the 10,000 techie blog. So maybe a wider audience might be exposed to the information that alternatives exist at all.

Edit: found the video, added link in the Video section
BFM radio(France) had a short -and pretty much improvised- slot for SFOS and Jolla, follwing MWC, broadcasted little after 8 PM. I think they -or one of them- visited the Jolla stand at MWC , but I was driving and couldn’t really focus.

Overall not bad, not 100% accurate either. Rather positive - yet clearly from the outside. They seemed intrigued / curious, like they’d have a closer look if they had a device to play with.
I can’t find a link or anything to share.

Related to French-speaking news I found this one.

Thanks, added to the french speaking section.
Remember the first post is a wiki, so anyone can add links, if you wish.

This is superior thing what you’re working on . I was about to say just before MWC that please keep on adding MWC articles here as well but you did it without saying – great work. Maybe tomorrow I have a bit of time add some myself if not yet added.

Thanks to everybody, yes, many people are adding most of the articles, pretty nice collection, cool co-work!

Technical remark:
Let’s keep the titles AND the urls visible!
I noticed this allows to quickly check if an url is already present or not, whereas finding it when the link is hidden behind the text is longer (If I’m not mistaken).

Basically just a Japanese translation of the original article.

Still worth archiving, I added it anyhow. :+1:

It is a rather rough collection of video material from the WMC at an impressively low resolution, and you look for quite some time at Sami Pienimäki looking at the Jolla Phone, but you also get to see the Jolla Phone in action.

One comment from my side. I know this was a prototype that was probably heavily violated during the conference by opening and closing the backcover a gazillion times but I hope that they make sure in the final product, that the back cover stays nice, flush and secure at the back, while being user serviceable.
