J2 Articles, videos and discussions summary

Interesting bit of info at about 3:42 in the video:

“30’000 people daily drive their Sailfish phones already".

I don’t remember an “official" number attached to the userbase being shared before, but I may have missed it.

I added in the list above an article from yesterday from xatakamovil on the Jolla Phone (and the Fairphone 6). They have some fairly nice images of the Jolla Phone in the article:

This is indeed interesting! Haven’t found that number either before

Added an article from Android Authority. Reads like original work of someone who was actually at the Jolla stand at WMC. Overall positive I would say. Solid publicity for Jolla I think.

New Polish articles + corrections. Thank you @pemek!
@elkiaer, relatively to what you were saying regarding the press,
If you are aware of some articles, you can place them here, if you wish.

This one is on the Jolla Phone too and one of the most positive I’ve read:

Great, added, thanks!
One day I’d have to make PDFs with all these pages, before they change, disappear… One day… :innocent:

Parsing the links out of your 1st post isn’t hard:

curl "https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/j2-articles-videos-and-discussions-summary/26232" \
| xmllint --html --xpath '//div[@id="post_1"]//div[@class="post"]//li//a/@href' - 2>/dev/null \
| cut -d\" -f2

I just tried to hack some automated downloading with headless Chromium but ultimately it will fail for many articles because of those damn captcha pages.

Beautiful!
Alas, there are also these paywalls… Weren’t there tricks to bypass that?
Hitting escape doesn’t work anymore…

Brilliant! (but sad that the stock browser cannot handle the site…)

Well, ok journalists have to live, as we all have to. So I could pay 1€ to buy each articles (8 are paywalled, I believe). But taking 8 month/year subscriptions…ffew :upside_down_face:

In the mean time, most other articles and videos are saved.
Do I have the right to share that? Not so sure…

Can’t you archive them in the Wayback machine?

Hmm, interresting.
I did on my PC or now.
Can we manually archive things there?

I think that if you search for a URL (at archive.org) that hasn’t been archived yet you will be asked if you want to add it. You need a couple of clicks to get the process going. After a while you get a link to the first archive.

I posted a few times about Jolla2 in Bluesky and only attracted a few tech people but Android Authority’s video review got many likes. The picture with a J2 and a removed back also triggers some.

Um yeah. Big topic. The wayback machine (web.archive.org) is not very good at that. There’s an alternative service that does bypass paywalls, has grown in popularity obviously because of that, but has become untenable.

I do believe archive.org can get around captchas though (also Anubis and the like).

If you have an account there some sort of automation might be possible. The rest - either shady or manually.

A third option is to self-host a web archive.

PS: my oneliner assumes that all relevant links are list items, i.e. in markdown the line starts with - or * or 1. etc.

I added an article from the Spanish Huffington Post on European phones, with prominent mentioning of Jolla and some new images from WMC.

A (German) late comer among MWC reports but it is a proper one, not just slop. Reads like the honest impressions of someone who was actually there. It comes with three nice new images of the device as well.

Added to the list above.

May I suggest to not add archived pages to the wiki, esp. not from archive.{is,li,vn,ph,today,md,fo}.
