Hello
on passing a threadv i read somewhere a user experienced a more responsive device disabling ‘animations’. Is there any setting under the hood that can be altered? I cant recall the exact nature of the discussion f
im using xz2 device and typing seems sluggish at timee when os is booted but the keyboard at the encryption password screen at boot is noticeably snappier so i think this might be a real phenomenon.
certainly with android users use adb bridge to flip some switches related to animations.
i feel with android this is likeky deliberate to get ppl to uograde thier devices. See wirths law. I remember when my old sony ericsson vivaz ran progressively slower because text messages were saved to internal memory by default. Changing it to save memory card freed up memory for page swap (i assume) and affected the snappyness greatly. Not surprised nothing has changed with android.
any suggestions?
There’s one or two patches in Web Catalog which allow to configure these.
Don’t know whether they work in latest SFOS but chances are they do.
But overall they are a bit snake-oil-ish.
Speeding up or shortening animations may make the UI feel snappier, but they won’t solve any real problems in most cases.
See the angle im looking at it is the drawing / gpu part.. Perhaps shortening is sufficient. I experienced first hand how wepages on a 16year old dual core machine barely load because of this emphasis today on sliding boxes, feathered edges and gradients that probably get transparency anti aliasing applied onto and just bogs even moderate integrated gpu’s down . Biggest culprit now is Ai generated wix websites that seemingly all look identical. It is bloat haha ha.
just my thoughts.
it would be cool to try disable anti aliasing on the ui… Just to try it.
Ok i dl’d patchmanager, easy, the web catalog is quite big. I shall scroll thru and report any findings
There’s a search function in the pulleye
Ye i sort by category
the patches still compatible are
Animation settings under ‘settings’ category
and shorten/disable animations under ‘silica’
unlikely to affect the slight lag i experience however. (unnofficial port).
ah well
edit: anim setting patch wont activate, so never got to test.even Rebooted.
Thank you yusef for this
good work there with some eye brow raising replies
