If it wasn’t so annoying I would say it’s beginning to be a comedy, a soap.
I only want Sailfish apps and open source apps. The few Android apps I have are FOSS and one is from Aurora and that one has zero trackers.
I am waiting for a good working Sailfish phone, realising that much work as to be done. Each hope that Sailfish can become a serious alternative gets a blow until the next promise is presented.
Sounds like solid PEBKAC moment
Strange excuse since many Sailfish ‘users’ experienced this flaw. Instead of accusing the ‘user’, feel free to explain why Microtube and NewPipe do not work in Sailfish devices 10 III and XA2 plus, but work fine in Volla phone and e/OS.
Paid you once E15 for this app. A bit more politeness and modesty will be appreciated.
where are they? All I saw was one guy saying “hey this fix worked”, nobody else is saying the app doesn’t work after applying the fix
You mentioned this in your first post.
Please don’t tell me I am the only one because I know that’s not true.
You have to deal with a tough opponent called Alphabet, so we are not surprised there are recurring problems with a Youtube client. Yet it is important finding out what exactly causes the flaws. Wish you success.
Just for information and if it may help in troubleshooting: NewPipe works fine on Xperia 10 / SFOS 5.0.0.68 and also on GrapheneOS device.
Really?
I am not using your ports or apps to my awareness, and sadly I cannot contribute with any single line of code, because of my incompetence.
But this community is small enough to recognize the members that are highly gifted with skills and who are the constructive motor of this community.
In that sense you have my deepest respect although I did not respond to your ports (because I use @Piggz ports (I interacted with him for feedback).
I am pretty sure that many see it similar and the worth of your contribution to the SFOS ecosystem.
Annoying noise is amplified in internet so extreme, we know all the guys who flood also here the threads with political flamewar offtopic bullshit bingo.
The big majority of reasonable users who respect you and your work remain silent (most of the time).
So also from me, keep you high quality work going!
Microtube update is out! (the js library JUST released like 3 hours ago)
Now it shall work without workaround
Wow, it works again. Happy to have it back! Thank you so much.
I noticed a bug in your application: when rewinding a video, the audio starts to lag behind, or the video stops displaying entirely while the sound keeps playing.
that’s only if you’re using h264 and blame jolla for not fixing it
Ah, I see now that it’s not the app’s fault. And by the way, thank you for the excellent YouTube client on this system!
if you can (and it depends on the phone) unselect “only avc1” in settings, but if the video is avc1 only thats not gonna help ![]()
I have an Xperia 10 III. Wow! After disabling the “AVC1 only” option, the video no longer lags behind the audio after seeking. Thank you!
yeah without avc1 only (h264’s other name) you’re using vp9 and the xperia should be able to play it (although its xperia), and with vp9 there’s no issue
I also wanted to ask you, as the app developer: is it normal that the app crashes 5 seconds after starting a live stream?
live streams are… struggling xd They’re avc1 only so I can’t really fix them right now. In past they had audio/video combined streams but currently they do not ![]()
Got it — thank you anyway for your answers and the time you spent.
Next step will be implementing SABR (Server ABR), youtube has moved away from simply providing avc1/vp9 + audio streams noooooo they had to invent their own bullshit, and like nothing supports it so i would have to write gstreamer plugin that would fetch the data and unpack it so that gstreamer can decode it and i freaking fear it
but hey, it might fix seeking/live stream issues
Update tested and microtube is still unfriendly.
