Hey, downloaded sailfishOS onto my fairphone 4. Enjoying the ux design so far but im wondering if theres any setting i can turn on to see the top bar when inside apps. Like i want to be able to see my batter procentage and the clock even when in apps, frankly it doesnt really make sense to me for it to be hidden in apps. Atleast by default. Maybe im just not seeing the obvious setting for this
I would like that too. But there isn’t one. At least that I know of.
Alright, hope this changes in the future. Thanks for the help regardless
What you can do is just swipe partially from the right or left edge, but do not release the finger in the center; instead, move the finger back to the edge. That way you can enjoy the focus on the app for most of the time and if you want to know the time, battery, or wifi/mobile connection, just make a sneak peek at the home screen.
A quick peek - swipe from the right, don’t release, swipe back - seems the fastest option to check.
If you’re brave you can research patches in Storeman store.
What’s the storeman store? An alternative app store?
You can read about and install the storeman app manager at openrepos.net. If you’re trying out patches, be brave but also read up on SFOS patches first so you know what you’re getting into.
I’ve gotten so used to this gesture that I really hadn’t even thought about the info bar not appearing when an app was open . . .
That was one of the reasons why I left Android. I didn’t need to know all the time what time it is and how much battery level I have. One of the genius concepts of Sailfish OS is that your app use the entire screen.
Here is an overview of the different outlets for SFOS apps (among other useful information). The app “Storeman” is a frontend for OpenRepos, one of these outlets.
