Note that you will have to go through all the Stop releases, and the latest version you can update to is 3.4 - cute but also a bit old.

If this is a device that has been factory reset to it’s original state, I’m afraid it’s going to be non-trivial to update as it does not speak current TLS and enabling Developer Mode is not supported out-of-the-box on a version that old.

There is a trick, I have done it recently… but forgot how, already :grimacing:
Everything is on the forum here, however.

how i check this ? is it factory reset or not :man_tipping_hand:

You shall check your OS version. Go to: Settings > System > About device (the last part wording is a guess by me, since I got my OS in localized version).

But why do you want to do that in the first place? Other than tinkering with the device of course.

I’ve tried to get sfos 3 to a usable state a few years ago and it just didn’t work as I hopped, so I rolled back to 1.
If it’s not going to work anyway, I decided to go with 1 since it’s beautiful and nostalgic.
But that’s just me

are there any screenshots where is the screenshots about the homescreen all step to final and last update. Ok i have iphone many many years and i update always final version. But how Sailfish OS is different than iphone os. Update have always better performance and security.

I understand that part but J1 last update was sfos 3.4, about 6 years ago so there’s nothing up to date about it!

To put it in iPhone terms, it’s like wanting to update iPhone 4s to iOS 9. Still just as outdated and performance is much worse that up to iOS 6

Yes i understand that

My Jolla-1 sw is now Kaajanlampi 1.0.0.5

so i’m noobie for this..

is it better to upgrade to that what is the latest sw to Jolla-1 or play what i have…

It is not really simple if you are not used to terminal commands, root access etc.
IIRC, I followed this guide to allow upgrading (regarding certificates) to the last version.
The J1 is now useable with Pure Maps and OSM Scout (and perhaps many other apps, but also limitations).

Only you can answer this for yourself.

If I were you, I would only update up to 1.1.7.28 Björnträsket, the last version with original SailfishOS 1.x UI – full of single stroke gestures, fantastic UX.

This sfos has no calendar. Is it possible to dowload somehow like terminal

Calendar is available in the Jolla Store, but you probably won’t be able to access it without updating the certs. As far as I know, you need up to date certs in order to download from repos, so just being able to access the Terminal won’t help you.

If you have access to another SFOS device, I think you can download the proper package, move and install it to the old phone.

Isn’t there a way to update the certs by CLI (devel-su)? I darkly remember that I did so with a freshly flashed old device, but unfortunately don’t know the command any more.
