Do you mean the SailfishOS-integrated backup? (in the settings-app)

Because I think this should work (although I haven’t tried it myself yet)

Die interne Sicherungsfunktion geht nur mit dem sekben Handy. Diese Erfahrung habe ich gemacht…

Ah okay. That’s bad

(then why would you need the backup anyway??)

The internal backup feature only works with the same phone. That’s what I’ve found…
Oops, sorry, that was in German…

At least back in the days it worked when I transitioned from JP-1301 to my current Xperia 10. Only thing that didn’t transfer completely was not all of my SMS-messages moved to the new phone, but it wasn’t a big deal for me so I didn’t look more into it.

Not true in my experience. The only thing that doesn’t restore from old releases if you still have nemo user instead of defaultuser are Notes. An even workaround for that is almost trivial.

OTOH internal backup is limited to SMS, images, browser, accounts without passwords, calendar, notes and phone book. No MMS or andy apps backup. For that purpose you can use one of the unofficial backup apps.

I have also been able to transfer a backup from one phone to another and I would like to recommend the Mybackup app. It allows you to back up more apps as well as individual files and folders.

As noted above, there are some notable holes with regards to Jolla apps. Messages and call recordings do not seem to be included.

Unfortunately, the restore is also an all-or-nothing, one-off procedure:

  • accounts are included, but no credentials, effectively disabling e.g. your Jolla account on restore
  • your local calendar and address book are overwritten, so anything you had added there will be lost.

[edit for clarity]

@TakaPihanPoika I think you should move the solution to @filip.k’s post because it contains the correct information regarding your question.

SMS are included but not MMS.
