Home screen behavior after single tap

A question first, is there a setting how long time first row of applications is shown after single tap on home screen? For me, it is currently too short. If it is meant to user have time to select app from that first row shown like a half second, I might categorize myself as a fossil. Maybe it is after all meant as hint where all apps are?

I suggest if timer setting is somewhere for user to manipulate, maybe setting for rows coming visible would also make sense?

I know user can swipe visible the amount of rows wanted. At least for me, a single tap is much more comfortable way to act.

Perhaps the Show always launcher hint patch might help you? Although as the name implies it keeps the first row of apps there all the time not just for a bit longer after you tap the screen.

It is indeed just a hint.

Thanks, have to try it!

Hints are useless after user has learnt something. For me it does not make sense user is rewarded for tapping screen when user is assumed to swipe applications visible.
Simple gesture as single tap should by default be used something more useful.

Heaven forbid someone spends €600 on a device and has an opinion about it

I’m not a newbie but don’t understand it either. Maybe you could be more constructive and tell us what it’s really about.
If it’s only a hint why can I quickly hit a shortcut and the app will open up?
