GPS Fix For XA2?

I got an Xperia XA2 device, the GPS positioning is still quite slow compared to my Xperia 10 III.

Has there been any work to port whatever made it better on the Xperia 10 III?

This is a hardware issue of XA2 phones. However, you can try reading this thread. People report to have improved fix times by just opening the phone and cleaning the internal contacts of GPS antenna [How-to][Hardware] Fix XA2 GNSS(GPS): Let's Try harder - #51 by ric9k

Not only the hardware, as some software tricks may help. To the author of this topic, search tool is your friend. Just put a little bit of effort and you’ll find many tricks of how to make gps on xa2 work substantially better. Both hardware and software.

I have an XA2 PLUS miraculously working with gps, the steps I did are:
1.- Reinstall android
2.- Install sailfish os again
3.- Install android app support
4.- Install micro g (optional)
5.- Install geoclue provider nominatim
6.- Activate GPS (custom setting)
7.- Run GPS SATELLITE LOCK through CSD (if you get connection to some satellites in a few minutes you are on the right track)
8.- Download Pure maps from chum to try or you can also download here maps or google maps from aurora store.
I hope it helps you.

What’s CSD?

Go to Settings → Product Info → Tap 5 times on the Build Number to start it.

Edit:
Or open Terminal and type csd
and press enter

No GPS (or GLONASS or Galileo or BaiDu …) receiver out there works “instantly”.

If you are used to “instant fix” on location on your Google or Apple phone, especially indoors or in a city with high building, that’s not GPS, that’s a whole bunch of tricks they do instead of and/or in addition to GPS.

They should use the same “tricks” in sfos then.

They will improve the location lock in SailfishOS 5.1 see this community meeting log. On my current phone with LineageOS Google maps locks on in 5 seconds and Organic Maps in 30-ish seconds and my phone uses BeaconDB, the same as SailfishOS want to use. So we will hopefully see some improvement soon.

I surely hope not.

That being said, BeaconDB support is coming. It may help with getting fixes faster.

There’s also the OpenAGPS project, but I hear it’s not there yet.
