Google play services

Greetings

I’m thinking about new Jolla 2026. So what i want is Jolla but with original full google play services. No microG no alternatives. As i read i can do such thing on grapheneos. Where GPS will be installed as normal app without admin privileges, giving full benefit of google with still lots of privacy. Which would be a great compromise for me.

Can similar thing can be done with Jolla. Mostly for banking app, google auth and fev other apps like that.

As i said no microg or alternatives.

Best regards

On Sailfish OS you have Android AppSupport and you can use MicroG. Many banking apps do work that way, but not all (here is a list of tested banking apps for Sailfish OS compatibility: Banking apps on Sailfish OS). EDIT: You can try what Ikraav linked to below though.

If you use Google services, you hand over a lot of your data, no matter what OS or degoogled Android system you are using, simply because that is required for those applications to function. The only way you can truly prevent that is by minimising the use of such google services.

That's a contradiction, unfortunately.

We’ve mostly solved it here Google Play Services on Xperia 10 III Sailfish 4.4.0.64 (now 5.0.0.76) - #92 by lkraav

Search before posting.

thejiral, lkraav, thx. My approach is google services as normal app will give me much more privacy than original android phone. I didn’t want MicroG as i don’t know this service so i don’t know how secure it is. My understanding is that MicroG will have full access to everything i’m doing with my account?

Additional question what with updates on both solution microG and oryginal GPS instaled in way lkraav posted?

s_mario i know but like i said it’s compromise, less privacy more security or at least i think so.

Best regards

MicroG is an open-source alternative of Google Play services.
There is a LOT of info everywhere since pretty much every project that wants to use android apps uses or recommends microG.

Regardless, you can use both with sfos with microG being much easier.
