REGRESSION: Android App OP-Mobiili does not work

DESCRIPTION:

Trying to open updated version of OP Mobile doesn’t work.

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. start AAS
  2. update OP-Mobiili to it’s newest version
  3. try to launch the app

EXPECTED RESULT:

The App launches

ACTUAL RESULT:


The icon flashes and nothing happens.

I’m sad but this is the last straw that makes me shift from N900->onwards to something other. Unable to do banking or ID yourself is just too much. I will monitor Sailfish OS and hopefully some day come back.

I can reproduce this on 5.0.0.55 after updating OP-Mobile to 71.0.0. The app closes as quickly as it opens, no error messages are shown.

According to app information, it is targeted at API level 35, while API level on 5.0.0.55 is 30.

I re-installed the previous version of OP-mobile, while waiting for a fix to be able to use the latest version:

  1. Uninstall OP-mobile
  2. Search OP-mobile on Aurora Store
  3. Select “manual downloading” and set the version number to 7003
  4. Download and install

I know I could downgrade the app. I did that with Finnish S-Mobiili app until the old stopped working and I could not access my secondary bank account. I cannot have this happen with my primary bank account.

With Aurora Store we noticed that the latest version crashes immediately after it opens. It looked like a data migration bug and quick fix was to clean up cache and data from Settings → Aurora Store.

Unfortunately that didn’t help. Perhaps someone, who has microg already installed, could test the latest version of OP-mobile.

Doesn’t seem to work with microG installed either.

Yup, updated my microg yesterday, and now trying OP Mobile it shuts down immediately. I wonder whether journalctl --follow would give any hint what happens, I myself don’t have the time now.

Then again, some recent commenter on the Aurora (Play) don’t seem too impressed of the app on vanilla Android either. We remember we had hard time with renewed MobilePay a year back until the programmers sorted their crap out.

Issue fixed on my XA2 with newer version 71.0.1 released today…still crashing on my C2 -AAS restarted on both phones.

With Tampella on Sony ii only Op version 70.0.0 worked. Not the latest ( which means bit trouble)

OP reported that they fixed the issue. I’ll have to check on my C2 as well if I can still reproduce it.

OP will also be having an apparently bigger overhaul in their electric services in the night between Saturday and Sunday. I’d think it’s possible that the mobile bank woes are part of bigger electric services woes.

Please report to https://forum.sailfishos.org/t/banking-apps-on-sailfish-os/ when the situation has stabilised - various hardware and various os versions.
