Fingerprint storage is limited

DESCRIPTION:

Fingerprint unlock is limited to 5 fingerprints. I dont see a reason for such a low limit.

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Go to Settings > Security > Device Lock

  2. Add 5 fingerprints

  3. Click “Add fingerprint” once more

EXPECTED RESULT:

You could add more fingerprints.

ACTUAL RESULT:

Error “There is not enough memory”

This is normal, even on Android phones. My last one could only store 3, and the one before that 4.

I assume it’s to avoid a big risk of incorrectly accepting the wrong prints, as the matches are not exact anyway.

According to a 2019 tutorial below, you can cheat by: inputting a fingerprint, stop at 50%, and put another finger, so it registers a mix of two fingers within one slot.
