Empty notifications waking up the screen continuously

Hi all,

Ever since I started using sailfish os on my xa2, i’ve noticed that every so often, an empty notification pops up. That is, a notification bubble with no text in it. It disappears after 5 seconds, and tapping on it does nothing.

When the screen is locked, this wakes up the screen every so many minutes. So not only is it slightly silly, it is also wasting battery power.

I had a look the logs from journalctl and it seems to be this:

So before I go and dig into source code etc… does this look familiar to anyone? What could this be and how to make it stop?

Hello,

since update to 4.0.1.48 i have a similar problem with one of my two XA2s.

Several times a day i get a notification sound, the display wakes up and i see an empty notification on the screen, that disappears after a few seconds.

I made some logs from journalctl right after those events, but as i am a just a dumb user, i cannot identify nor solve the problem.

The points in time when i heard the notification sounds were 09:11 (08.03.2021) and 16:08 (10.03.2021).

I hope someone can help with the problem, as it is quite annoying.

For me OneDrive Android application keeps giving empty notifications if it’s running. It needs to be killed from Applications.

OneDrive issue was quite clearly identifiable from my logs and I don’t see that in you’re logs so it probably isn’t the same app that’s misbehaving.

But you could shut down Android support, if you’re using that, and at least rule out Android apps.

Like @hetas said it is normally a notification from an Android application. You need to find out which notification it is and disable it in the Android notifications settings, problem solved.

I will try to find out, which android-app causes the notification.

Whatsapp, Signal Messenger and Fennec (F-Droid) are always running and never closed, except when restarting the phone.

Thank you very much for your help!

You have to go to the app settings (in sfos settings) and disable autostart for each if you don’t want them running.

Thx for the hint!

But seems I didn´t explain very well. I just wanted to point out, that these apps are always running (intended) as “cover-app” for quick access, so that I think that one of these three is causing the problem.
