I do know not about anyone else, but I am not keen on this e-sim phenomenon on smartphones nowadays. My current Xperia 10 iii does not have e-sim. However, the Xperia 10 V and IV are e-sim. Does that mean that Xperias will no longer contain dual SIM trays that can support two physical SIM cards or what?
Does anyone know when full versions of Sailfish eEwill be available on Xperia 10 V and IV?
There are cards like 9eSIM which are basically an eSIM chip in SIM card form.
They work great with the Xperia 10 III.
That will entirely depend on how many resources Jolla will want to invest into supporting legacy devices once there is a true alternative in form of the J2.
Something I don’t think anyone can predict at this point.
After Xperia 10 IV and V support turned into the disaster it is now, I’m not entirely sure if it even makes sense to try to officially support any newer Xperias.
They have been complaining for a decade that SFOS is not good enough. That’s what they meant, nothing more.
Also I’m no sure if they meant the actual Sony Xperia 10 or all SFOS-supported Xperia X10… devices. Check a site like gsmarena if you’re confused about the models.
The xperias were a “solution“ to the HW problem we had. Of course this came with its own set of problem -dependence on sony, problematic adaptations etc etc-
As for the future i don’t know and TBH id like to see Jolla put all its resources in bringing a second -better- phone on the market and fixing the big issues on the SW side.
