During boot (entering encryption code), screen may be too dim to see the keypad, but there's no way to change it

REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
OS VERSION: 5.0.x
HARDWARE: Xperia X10II (but applies to all)
UI LANGUAGE: English UK
REGRESSION:

DESCRIPTION:

During the boot process.

When the phone asks for the encryption code for the first time (white on black) the user-defined backlight brightness is already applied, but there’s no way to change it.

This can lead to situations when the screen is too dim in bright daylight, becomes unreadable, and there’s no way to change it.

I think it would make more sense to use a standard value, and only apply user-defined brightness when lipstick has started and the dropdown (with the brightness slider) becomes available.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. set brightness really low (e.g. when reading a book before going to sleep)
  2. switch phone off
  3. boot phone (e.g. the next day, in bright daylight)

EXPECTED RESULT:

Enough screen brightness to comfortably see the keypad

ACTUAL RESULT:

Screen too dim in daylight

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

I believe the described problem has been so for a long time, this is nothing new.

I confirm. Need to dig the forum, but there is already a bug report or this has been raised on a community meeting.
