One feature that I find missing in the built in keyboard is when typing a double tap of the space bar would enter in a period symbol (.).
Yeah, moving your finger a half inch to the right is really exhausting.
It’s clearly not, but I find typing much faster with a double tap of the space bar to enter in the period.
This is just a small quality of life issue and is this not the place for feature requests no matter how small? How else are we to bring the OS to a place where it meets the needs of the widest possible range of users?
Not a good idea (at least in a systematic way but it would be the start of endless personal options) as multiple spaces can have a specific meaning.
I’m thinking about CommonMark (Markdown) that is now ubiquitous (including in the form I currently use to type this very message but it can happen elsewhere (mostly related to programming AFAIK but who knows).
Agreed that in certain contexts a double space can have multiple meanings, but that’s true of just about every character one can type. In a most general sense a double tap of the space bar to insert a period should be a non-issue for the vast majority of users. In any case this should be an option that can be enabled or not allowing for those who do not want or need the feature. That it’s an option on the default keyboard for multiple other OSes and keyboards suggests that it is something that many find useful.
I do not miss that feature as it would drive me nuts on android
