REPRODUCIBILITY: 100 %.
OS VERSION: 5.0.0.76.
HARDWARE: Sony Xperia 10 iii.
UI LANGUAGE: Finnish
REGRESSION: 5.0.0.72 (at least).
DESCRIPTION:
The entire user interface is rendered slightly shifted to the left, causing the leftmost part of the screen to be hidden under the physical black bezel (off-screen). This is a global issue affecting the status bar, native apps, system settings, and Android App Support. For example, when typing “echo 12345” in the Terminal, the output is displayed as “2345”. The first character is physically rendered but remains hidden behind the black border of the display assembly. This has been verified by looking at the screen from a sharp angle from the right side, where the hidden pixels are visible under the black glass edge.
PRECONDITIONS:
None.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
-
Open Terminal or any app, really.
-
Observe the left edge of the screen.
EXPECTED RESULT:
The UI should be centered correctly or have a sufficient margin so that no content is obscured by the physical bezels.
ACTUAL RESULT:
The UI is shifted to the left by approximately one to two character’s width (in Terminal, font size 16 px), causing content loss at the edge.
MODIFICATIONS:
None. The device has been reflashed recently to rule out software-side configuration errors, but the issue persists on a clean install.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
I noticed the issue about two days ago, but I’m not sure if it was present before that.
