Can text prediction be customized? It would be more useful to me if short words, say four characters or less, would not be shown. Selecting those from the prediction takes longer than just typing them.

There is no way to do this.
Wasn’t there a way to edit the list of known words? if that list is editable you could remove all words that are too short, however this wouldn’t stop learning of new short words, i.e. you would need to edit / clean up this list regularly.
