Create wiki pages

most of the community mobile phone, Ubuntu Touch, PostMarketOS … have some sort of a wiki with dedicated pages stating what works or does not on the supported devices

could it be possible to have something of the like wit SfOS?

for example the page on the XA2 would state
compass: does not work
GPS: some users report it may take ages to get a fix, if ever
battery: some users report an unpredictable battery drainage
etc…

@Mister_Magister
right!
i know this page, that is where i got my FP2 port years ago
what i have in mind is more for the “official” SfOS version and their numerous flaws
some of them never solved, some others that seem to be included in new versions

That’s purely on jolla that they don’t add their ports there lol

For a more high-level overview, you can also start a wiki page on sailfishos.wiki. I’m sure that would be greatly appreciated by the community :slight_smile:

Official List with “official flaws”:

It’s not a wiki but PRs can be filed against it.

@Nephros
very interesting page indeed, but
we have to know it exist to access it
i cannot see any flaws described in it
do you really think that sort of page helps the newbie wanting to try SfOS

Isn’t that true for most things?

It is on a sub-page.

An endless list of “some users report” isn’t really helpful either.

But over all, dedicated device pages isn’t a bad idea.

@attah

of course yes, but other sites put this type of information in a clearly visible place

that is right as well it is why this list has to be moderated

i understand well that the poor developer[s] that handles SfOS at jolla has not much time to tackle this task

i write developer[s] because i wonder there is more than one guy at this job…

What’s with this random toxicity? What good will that do?

If this wiki were up-to-date it would be amazing source of clear information. I feel like quite often (at least new) people aren’t aware of the known bugs/problems. This would make it much clearer, also easy place to see if there is fix coming or not. @rainemak ping just to lift this idea. Of course this takes resources out of something else but maybe the additional work wouldn’t be that big, after that page is once updated to be up to date. It would be nice to scroll the list device by device and also it would be nice to see Mind2 on that list. Would make it easier follow for us who don’t want to join discord.

Is it not?
If you have clear issues that are missing (not deep in the “some users” swamp), please do suggest them.

I’m not sure a improved docs page will help the people posting in a release notes thread about issues clearly mentioned in the opening post. Not a reason to not improve… but let’s also be realistic in our expectations.
