Just wondering. I gathered that Swype technology has ended up with Microsoft - someone ought to ask them if we could get it back in the platform. It was brilliant in N9.
As in swype on a keyboard?
I don’t know what you are referring too, but if it was for me i would ask to bring back the entire sailfish 1 ui
I’m referring to Nokia N9’s keyboard, if you ever have seen one. It was very quick to type with Swype.
It showed this blue track on where you’re “swyping”, and then you get the word. It was lightyears ahead of what all this crap is today. With the current keyboard i just hit all the the the adjacent buttons. It just plain sucks (as it sucks in iOS and Android as well)
okboard app still works great for me. have you tried it?
video looks promising, very much like N9. I needs to do Finnish. I tried installation, but installing RPM did nothing, and the git sites with readme:s are down …
But the big question above was more like why this is not included in the package, if there is stuff like this? I do understand if it was about patents and stuff, with this Swype thing. But its now ended with M$, and their management is not that evil anymore.
surprisingly, i dont think anyone ever made a localization for finnish. i see english, french, dutch, swedish, polish, hungarian, and spanish. hopefully i am wrong.
btw, its an app that needs to be launched and then enabled (which then patches maliit). if it didn’t install a desktop launcher, it probably failed installation. maybe try installing it with storeman? (not that there is any point if your primary language is missing)
i have okboard 0.6.37-1
installed on sfos 4.6.0.15
on an Xperia 10 III, and i use it all the time in english.
If no Finnish its useless for me.
I mean I have the SFOS in Finnish.
It is also not available for all devices. Apparently it needs adjustments to fit the screen size.
Didn’t they have a patent on that technology?
Oh, wait, we are in the EU, no software patents here! \o/
Oh thats just bollocks.
(It looks like a simple patent to me)
Someone use it on the Jolla C2?
I could never get it running on my XZ2 Compact.
There are instructions in the source code how to implement new languages. I did it for Hungarian about 7 years ago. This year i tried for Turkish, but i gave up after some time.
Swype has been patented.
Nokia Swipe should also be a patented technology, you may try to find it here.
If Jolla stays inside of the EU those patents are null and void… so, uhm, mark the packages as EU only
