And which phone with which OS?

C2 phone ,using Tesco SIM ( which uses O2.

Then you should collect some logs. Check this documentation: Collect oFono Logs | Sailfish OS Documentation

I cannot get into the phone to get logs.Without a connection I am sunk.

Forgot to thank you for trying to help but it’s a brand new , never been used.

Does your phone boot up properly?
If yes, the WiFi connection should work. Then you can use SSH to connect to it.
If not, the problem is somewhere else.

The USB cable or USB port is possibly usually problematic too.

You mean possible .

I put in the security code , it was accepted and it still asks for it,then the language .I put in English.

Then offered to connect to SIM or internet wi fi.I tried to connect to the SIM and it would not.Waited tried several times switching on off etc I thought it was the SIM so had to wait to get a friends phone to see if SIM was ok .It is ok.

What is SSH ? I am not very tech.

SSH is a protocol that allows you to “hack” into your phone from your PC, via Wifi. On a Linux PC you can use ssh right from the terminal, for a Windows PC there are some easy to use programs that enable you to do the the same.

However, as far as I understand, that is only possible if you activated developer mode on your phone and in the same menu also setup SSH.

I am unable to activate the phone so far, but thanks for explaining this.

Is this the only help ? I was hoping to get through to the help desk. This is a major problem.

For official customer support you need to turn to Zendesk.
But do note that their backlog is a few weeks.

In the mean time you can try to setup and test the phone without SIM.

I am unable to use the phone if I cannot connect the SIM.
No help means I will have to request a refund via my credit card.
Thanks for letting me know it’s weeks to wait.I will go and buy a cheap Motorola.
If I wait weeks thee card company will say it’s my fault I really wanted this system but…

Hi, I’m sad to read about your issue with your SIM card. I was able to setup one of my Jolla C2, I have two of them, without the need of a SIM card. It works just fine with Wi-Fi as mentioned earlier.
Did you try the other SIM slot and eventually another SIM card of another provider?
In case you can setup your C2 with Wi-Fi, I suggest you to enable the Developer mode in the settings.
Once you’ve done that, please use the Terminal and enter the three letters: csd. This will bring you to the CSD Tool for hardware testing of your phone. Here you can see at the section „Power consumers” what the status of your SIM is and if and how it connects with the signal strength.
I hope this helps, otherwise if for some reason the initial setup of the phone went wrong, you can reset it in the settings and start over.

I forgot to mention that you might need a Jolla account but I guess you could sign up initially when first time starting your phone. Please try this in order to get your SIM working.

I have set up a jolla account.Only O2 works where I live , it’s rural, EE told me I can’t use their network as I live in a brick house lol.
I had no idea that O2 might not work.If not I am unable to use another because they just don’t work here.
