Connecting the Xperia 10 iii to an external display causes a reboot

OS VERSION: 4.5
HARDWARE: Sony Xperia 10 iii, USB-C to HDMI cable or USB-C with HDMI output
UI LANGUAGE: US english

DESCRIPTION:

Whenever I connect the cable the phone instantly reboots

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Connect an external display cable to the phone

EXPECTED RESULT: Maybe video output would work. Then I could use Visual Studio Code on the phone and not have to carry my computer on long trips.

ACTUAL RESULT: a reboot

MODIFICATIONS:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: I tried a USB-C to HDMI cable and 3 different USB-C hubs

Can confirm this behavior. I tried this with an older SFOS version a few months ago using a Xperia 10 and some USB-C to HDMI adapter, having the same result as you had.

I don’t think so, because

DESCRIPTION:

Plugging USB-C into display with power delivery or smart hub with attached display causes crash IF a computer has been plugged into it before.

describes special conditions, while @kanguru007 's and my bug occur always.

I rather think that the condition in the other issue is unnecessary, limited to a specific monitor, or downright false. No need for a new issue.

This is already discussed in the other thread… and noted by flypig.
