Community meeting on 12th March 2026

Please note new time slot

Schedule: Thursday 2026-03-12T16:00:00Z :world_map: :date:

Sailfish OS Community Calendar (ICS format)

Even if you do not participate, topics tend to generate discussion. I want to see discussion happening. Thus, I’m proposing that we’d use 10mins as minimum topic duration. Maximum 6 topics a week. We’ll continue with the extended 90 mins meeting duration.

Topic proposals for the meeting:

  • Add your name/nick using the template below to suggest a topic.
  • Indicate how much time you’ll need so we can time-box the meeting accordingly.
  • Please be as thorough as you can with your question/topic.
  • If you can’t make the meeting please ask and name a substitute.

It is expected that you show up and present your topic, or name a substitute and make sure they attend in your absence. These IRC meetings are for real time participation and live discussions, otherwise you can post the topic on here and get responses that way.

We need you to be present to clarify details in the topic, and to ensure the discussion is leading to the answers you are looking for! If you do not participate or your question/topic isn’t clear enough it will be postponed. Also: always ask for more time than you anticipate your topic needs!

Please have your topics ready at least 3 days before the meeting so we can prepare good answers. Topics announced afterwards will be postponed to the next meeting.

  2. Topic: Unable to set lock pin for Android apps
  3. Some details about the topic: This is for sure well known topic for Jolla. And this has probably been asked already more than once… But hey, one more? I raise this topic again as it might be problematic/shock for many new comers with the Jolla phone. There has been some finding done by the community which helps to mitigate problem in some apps: Unable to set lock pin for Android apps requiring it - #77 by nick8325 & Unable to set lock pin for Android apps requiring it - #61 by nekron . You have probably seen these already, but I wanted to raise this topic again in case there is some plans regarding this? I am personally in high hopes that fixing this would allow me to use for example Microsoft Authenticator, but for many this could make it possible to use more banking apps etc.
  4. Approx. time needed: 10min
  5. Substitute (optional): Don’t know yet if I am able to be present, but I try to be there

MS Authenticator (current version from aurora store) works for me.

Wait, really?? For me it works otherwise but I can’t setup the passwordless signin method (for those pop-ups where you enter number seen in the screen) because I am unable to set screen lock for Android side. Have you been able to do that??

yes, I get the popups and can type in the two digits on my C2 and it works. The only thing is that I have to start authenticatir before getting the request, itherwise it might get lost.

That is amazing to hear! Did you do some hack to enable screen lock for android side? Did you put pin code for android side or something else? Tell me your secret! I’m excited

  • Topic: New customers vs. returning fans on the Jolla Phone
  • Some details about the topic: See below.
  • Approx. time needed: 5 mins
  • Substitute (optional): n/a (@direc85 would you mind reminding me on Thursday that I asked this? :folded_hands:)

The Jolla phone sales are a great success, and the second batch seems to fly out of the window like hot cakes as well. Congratulations! I’ve seen various mentions on X today of new people joining the Sailfish OS community, through buying the new device. This is great news! As an app-developer, I want to be a bit prepared for the influx of new users. It made me wonder: what is the fraction of returning Sailfish OS fans versus new Sailfish OS users?

I suspect that the existence of Whisperfish (sub for any popular app!) could be a driving factor for the new influx. If there are approximately (lets say) 5000 new Sailfish OS users, and they all start using Whisperfish the minute that their phones arrive… I’m going to have to take a month off of work for support (and I probably will), and another month before the first shipments to polish the app (to thwart the bug reports, and I probably will). So my question: can Jolla share any estimates with the community?

EDIT: this topic was fully answered here (possibly targeting 5.1 but still planned):

  1. Name/IRC nick: teleshoes

  2. Topic: Plans for Treat Mobile as WiFi for 10 III AAS

  3. Some details about the topic: This crucial feature fixes a very long-standing, painful bug/defect, but only for C2. The new Android13 AAS finally coming to 10 III in 5.0.0.73 sadly did not include this feature, which was a surprise at least to me. Fixing the network detection and the IP/routing issues in android would be wonderful of course, but as a stop-gap for the next 4 years, this solution is nearly ideal. This topic is purely about asking when this feature is coming to 10 III, or making the case for the importance of it if it is not planned.

  4. Approx. time needed: 5min

  5. Substitute (optional):

p.s.: if this topic has an easy answer i’m just not aware of, like maybe it’s planned for 5.1 or the remaining point release before 5.1, great, nevermind, delete this topic.

  • Name/IRC nick: Cryx

  • Topic: Unified Attestation

  • Some details about the topic: see linked topic… Is Jolla aware of this new initiative, may it be possible to implement that in AAS, would Jolla participate in that initiative?

  • Approx. time needed: 5 min.

  • Substitute (optional): none. I think I can make it into the meeting, but in the end the main intention is to point Jolla to that possible solution for banking apps, if it’s API related maybe even for native implementation into SFOS.

Sorry, somehow I forgot to answer.
I did actually nothing. After some time it worked. Our admins relaxed some security stuff to allow for sms authentication. What I noticed is that MS lists my C2 in my account’s security infos with AppSupport.
