Community meeting on 12th February 2026

Please note new time slot

Schedule: Thursday 2026-02-12T16:00:00Z :world_map: :date:

Sailfish OS Community Calendar (ICS format)

Even if you do not participate, topics tend to generate discussion. I want to see discussion happening. Thus, I’m proposing that we’d use 10mins as minimum topic duration. Maximum 6 topics a week. We’ll continue with the extended 90 mins meeting duration.

Topic proposals for the meeting:

  • Add your name/nick using the template below to suggest a topic.
  • Indicate how much time you’ll need so we can time-box the meeting accordingly.
  • Please be as thorough as you can with your question/topic.
  • If you can’t make the meeting please ask and name a substitute.

It is expected that you show up and present your topic, or name a substitute and make sure they attend in your absence. These IRC meetings are for real time participation and live discussions, otherwise you can post the topic on here and get responses that way.

We need you to be present to clarify details in the topic, and to ensure the discussion is leading to the answers you are looking for! If you do not participate or your question/topic isn’t clear enough it will be postponed. Also: always ask for more time than you anticipate your topic needs!

Please have your topics ready at least 3 days before the meeting so we can prepare good answers. Topics announced afterwards will be postponed to the next meeting.

Topic: Will the J2 have HBM (high brightness mode)?
Some details about the topic:
In the region where I live HBM is really essential:
On the Xperia 10 V with current 5.0.0.72 beta there is no HBM (at least to my awareness) and this renders the device useless outdoors, meaningful use only indoors possible. The same device with stock Andoid (that has HBM) is a pleasure to use.
Also on my Volla Quintus HBM makes a striking difference: with HBM enabled, SFOS shines and the device is useable outdoors.
Therefore: is there anything planned about the screen brightness of J2?
Approx. time needed: 5 min
Note: I can probably not make it to the meeting but I will happy to read your response. Many thanks for your understanding

I have no idea how to access the meeting or use these technologies and due my disability it’s unlikely that will change. Please could someone raise the topic of apps disappearing from second user accounts following switching accounts. I was able to install android apps on my second user, so that isn’t the problem. The problem is the apps disappeared from the app drawer when I switched to root and back again. However the apps are still there and they still work. If an email comes in I get a notifo, I can click it and open the email. I just cannot access the app from the app drawer. I know the official line is that android apps cannot be installed on second user but clearly they can and the problem lies with a bug around switching users. If this is the wrong way to get this raised - I am doing what @filip.k told me to do.

I am also unsure if a community meeting is the best way to discuss this bug, but it looks like filip.k has given the go-ahead. Proper meeting entry below so it can be covered. (obviously I will happily pull this entry if it’s not appropriate)

  • Topic: Unreliability of Android apps in secondary user accounts

  • Some details about the topic: Installing Android apps on secondary user accounts seems to work correctly at first (they can run in the background and send notifications). When switching users to defaultuser and back to the secondary account, the apps disappear from the app drawer. The apps still work (notifications work and apps can be opened from push notifications). Is this a known bug and can Jolla investigate?

  • Approx. time needed: 10min

  • Substitute (optional): I can’t be present but will pass relevant details from the community meeting logs to headlamp_mapper
