  • Topic: How to make Carrier VoLTE config files?
  • Some details about the topic:
X10III appears to need a signed config file for each carrier to use VoLTE and VoWifi
  • Approx. time needed:
  • Substitute (optional):

When 3G is turned off in NZ, both my X10IIIs will be scrap. This has already happened in AU. There will be zero SFOS devices that can make VoLTE calls here after that.
The carriers do not lock the phones out, but it appears that carriers settings have to be put in a file which is made and signed by Sony/Qualcomm/Some licensee, and preinstalled on the phone or an update. information can be obtained.

Is this correct?
Must the files be signed? (X10II files were plain text?)
If so, who can sign the files?
Can Jolla make these files?
Can Jolla pressure or cajole Sony to make them or sign them?
How are phones supposed to global roam when 3G is gone? Is there some other provisioning method for VoLTE roaming?
Are there generic files that we could try?

None of the 3 carriers have done so as Sony does not sell phones here.
My carrier’s network engineer was not obstructive - so I believe that the required information could be obtained from at least one carrier.

When my phone stops working I will take Sony (NZ) to the small claims court, as they have stated globally that VoLTE works, with no caveats about where it doesn’t. I don’t expect to achieve much, but Sony (NZ) may well contact head office that they have faced legal action about this
Does Jolla have a named contact in Sony HQ, who Sony (NZ) should contact when this happens?
