Cisco Duo and FoilAuth?

Our university is switching to 2FA using Cisco Duo Security later this year. I was wondering if anybody knows whether this might work with FoilAuth?

I don’t think so because they want money for it. At first sight, it looks like another snake oil solution.

That’s evil. I’d leave that university and find a real one.

Is that the thing called ‘Duopoly’?

Duo Mobile can replace other passcode-generating apps for third-party accounts, but other apps cannot replace Duo Mobile.

All those 2FA solutions do use the so called “TOTP” protocol. Do research the topic and you’ll see there is always a way to use any program solution (like FoilAuth) in order to get yourself authenticated by that particular protocol.

P.S. I do use KeePass with additional plugin in order to get myself authorized in my particular work context, although they DO expect MS Authenticator.
And it worx!

Ah, it sounds like someone is about to write a great tutorial for us! wink, wink.

I would love to - after my exams I shall.

Poetaster,
You are right. Cisco is part of the surveillance industry. See Wolfie Christl’s Cracked Labs (crackedlabs.org) and The Citizen Lab.
Dutch universities entirely rely on Microsoft, as does the whole public administration of the government, health care, etc. Too stupid for words.
