Not that there was any mentioning about this in the release notes, but still not working with 4.5.0.16 when using dialler and **21*number#.
However I actually learned something new recently that changed my need for this. Instead of doing the traditional call forwarding manually every time, when using “if out of reach” call forwarding, I can keep it on constantly knowing that when I enter places where there is no signal it will automatically forward my calls.

Still not working on 4.5.0.24, either. Not just call forwarding but also call barring and call waiting. Call forwarding settings also behave strangely.
Dialing ##21# still results in an error message, but the GUI settings seem to work (Settings - Apps - Phone) with 4.6.0.12 (EA). X10III user here with Elisa/FI 5G-capable SIM with a brand new SIM card.
Haven’t been using sailfish for 3 years now, but I found something that might be related to the issue.
I recently changed the launcher in my Android 15 Sony Xperia 10 V and suddenly the call forwading widgets stored to “desktop” stopped working. The widget was **21*number# but when calling, the dialled number was 21number, so the special characters were stripped off.
I fiddled with the settings quite a lot and found out that if the number is stored as mobile phone in the contact, the symbols were stripped. However, if I used TTY TDD as the contact type, the call was made to **21*number# like it was supposed to do.
Could this be something that causes the issues also in sailfishos?

Back with a brand new jolla phone and sadly back with almost the same issues like four years ago. I tried rebooting the phone, changing SIM slot and tried all settings multiple times but almost without any success.
I did manage to get the forwarding working once via settings menu and get the forwarding also disabled also once via phone app, but in general I can not reliably say that it works when needed.

I have some difficulties understanding what you were trying to archive.
As the topic suggest, I’m trying to forward my incoming calls to another number/phone when I’m not able to have a mobile phone with me.
Some factory environments for example prohibit carrying mobile phones with you and one has to rely forwarding your calls to a desktop phone inside the premises.

Try what you did in Settings:Phone again and do not press Accept. Just fill in the number in international notation and leave the settings.

The functionality is at least very inconsistent. I got it working once like you suggested but not after that. Switching between different methods does help sometimes but around 9 times out of 10 it does not work no matter how the forwarding is enabled.
