[C2][5.0.0.21] Terminal text selection wonky

UI LANGUAGE: English (UK) (user: en_GB, os: en_GB.utf8)
REGRESSION: yes (since: 4.4.0.72 - aarch64)

DESCRIPTION:

In Terminal, selecting text by holding down a finger and dragging appears to use a wrong, or at least unusual offset.
Selection begins some characters/pixels to the right of the touched area, and after dragging also ends too far to the right.

PRECONDITIONS:

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Generate some output to select
  3. Set Drag Mode Settings to ‘Select’
  4. Drag your finger to select some text

EXPECTED RESULTS:

ACTUAL RESULTS:

Finger was swiped over the directory path quite precisely, starting at session and ending at /usr.

MODIFICATIONS:

  • Other: none specified

Well spotted. I needed to add some extra padding to fully confirm that there is an offset :smiley:

Thanks! Can confirm this fixes the issue.

Selection still seems off a character or two sometimes, but that may just be my fat fingers.

Yea, the text selection UI is not necessarily ideal for finger usage in general.
