[BUG][4.1.0.23, 4.1.0.24] Unlock device by fingerprint

This bug has been already reported on together.jolla.com

REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
BUILD ID = OS VERSION: 4.1.0.23
HARDWARE (XA2, Xperia 10…): XA2 Plus
UI LANGUAGE: Russian
REGRESSION: (compared to previous public release: Yes, No, ?): Yes

DESCRIPTION:

In the previous version, the fingerprint opened the main screen (desktop) in any of the cases:

1 when the device was automatically locked on timeout
2 when the screen is off but the device is not locked (the fingerprint wakes up the device, unlocks it and shows the main screen)
3 when the screen is on the lock-screen but the device is not locked (when you turn the screen off and on again or close and open the cover case and you can just swipe and view the main screen)

As of 4.1.0.23 the fingerprint does nothing for the third case!

PRECONDITIONS:

In Settings->Device Lock set Automatic Locking to 5 min
Add few fingerprints to unlock

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1 Turn on the device, you see the main screen
2 Turn off the screen with the power button or cover case
3 Turn on the screen immediately without waiting for the lock (few seconds after turning it off)
4 Try use the fingerprint to open the main screen

EXPECTED RESULT:

The main screen should be shown.

ACTUAL RESULT:

Nothing happens, the main screen is available only on swipe.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

It is really annoying that you cannot open the main screen with a fingerprint if the device is not locked by timeout. As for previous releases, I just used the fingerprint to view the main screen in all cases

Yes, confirm this annoying bug on an encrypted X with SFOS 4.
But if double-tap would work I would not care

But I cannot confirm this on a XA2 with 3.2.1.20. Here it works like you and I expect and so I did not notice.
Difference on my XA2 may be that this is not encrypted?

What about the status of the one year old internally filed ticket?

Fixed in OS update 3.4.0.

Thanks. I did not see it resolved on that TJC thread.

But, as @sahikknox noticed on XA2 and I as well on an X it may have re-appeared?

For the record, I’ve also noticed this regression on the Xperia 10 II, so it seems like the problem is not device-specific.

@jovirkku
So could you please reopen this internally?

Apparently it has… Some more info in the fix here: https://git.sailfishos.org/mer-core/mce/merge_requests/149
