DESCRIPTION:
Sometimes when using ‘Save Link’ fron the browser, thing is downloaded, but saved as unnamed_file.
The lack of a file extension (presumably) leads to Tracker ignoring it, which in turn means neither Gallery nor Media nor Documents app showing it.
PRECONDITIONS:
Maybe the webserver does not provide a useful MIME type (?), and/or the URL can not be interpreted so a file name can be determined.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
- Browse to a web page
- Select a link, long press
- select ‘Save Link’
- Try to find your saved file using any of the stock apps.
EXPECTED RESULTS:
The browser should make an effort to determine a filename extension.
I think there is also already a Feature Request ro offer file renaming in the Transfers setting app.
