I have a new Jolla 2026, SFOS 5.2.0.22, trying to set it up for use. My headsets are OK for music, but in a regular phone call, the other party most times hears nothing at all, or extremely choppy and distorted sound, while I hear them just fine.
It does happen that sounds come through OK I think, but there is no discernible pattern to this. E.g. restarting sound and/or audio does seem to help. I will do more testing, but mostly it doesn’t work.
I am a longtime user of the Plantronics Voyager series headsets, and have a total of five working specimen. All are OK with an Android phone.
Plantronics Voyager Legend (at least 10 years old)
Plantronics Voyager 5200 (ca. 9 years old)
HP Poly Voyager 5200 (ca. 8 years old, nerly identical to the above but after HP buyup and Polycom merger)
HP Poly Voyager Legend 50 (Two identical, ca. 3.5 years old)
Maybe the oldest one (!) works, but I haven’t tested that as much, yet.
I read this thread about recent fixes, but my version is even newer.
If it’s the 2G issue, a workaround is to quickly enable and disable loudspeaker mode whenever people complain about the sound. Have a try if that works around the problem for you, too! And hopefully the issue will be fixed soon.
After the update to 5.2.0.22 on my Sony Xperia 10 II I have the same problem with my Marshall Bluetooth head phones. The sound at the other end is not working. I live in Sweden, so it’s not a 2G issue, since we no longer have 2G in Sweden.
I am with provider Telenor which has the last 2G still for another year. But I doubt this is the reason. I have to do some more testing, but so far…
It is as a bit annoying, because I don’t get many observations each day, because with this issue I am quite far from letting the Jolla be my daily driver.
