Thanks, Ok this is the file size. I saw the backup file in the .local … folder but SFOS deleted it so quick and I cannot show the file size. Only this post is written here in the forum.
If you ever made a succesful backup on OneDrive, you can try this:
1, Put SD card into the phone
2. Create backup on SD card
3. On computer, copy the backup file to your OneDrive account in the folder, where your phone store backups, for me, it is OneDrive\Programs\Sailfish OS\Backups\Xperia-XA2_ydUCPCkw6ggD
4. Then, check backup app. Your backup should be available for restore. This will somehow prove, that the size is the problem, you can read larger files from Onedrive, but not write them.
I have try now some thinks on one drive. It is also not possible to upload small pictures from phone. Via Windows Notebook it works also with bigger files as 10Mb. I think the false is in SFOS. Maybe only a timing issuse. If I delete the backup folder from Sailfish on onddrive the Backupupload generate it new but it is empty. I give up now and use dropbox.
Hmm, the size might be the reason why upload failed: the last uploaded file (tar.gz) from my 10III to OneDrive was 3,6MB on 1 December 2024 (I had a weekly automatic schedule). Did something change after 1 December in the automatic backup that could have increased the backup from 3,6 MB to to larger than 10MB? I’ve not changed much on my phone since then (I even cleared the browser cache).
The manual backup I made on 22 February 2025 (before upgrading from 4.6.0.15 to 5.0.0.61) to the SD card was 1,22GiB, probably because of Gallery included in manual backup (and it’s only .tar, no .gz). So the manual backup and the automatic backup cannot be compared.
I doubt that the size is the reason, my backups are around 1MB in size and I didn’t do anyrhing special when it stopped to work.
However I managed to retrieve the following logs from journalctl:
It seems I made wrong conclusions. This is my personal OneDrive shown in Win File Explorer (despite of name the files are not gziped), last succesfull backup upload was on 21.11.2024, but I do not remember what was happening in that time.
I rename the folder “SailfishOS1” in Onedrive but no changes. My backups was all biger than 10Mb. With Android app Onedrive I could upload the last backup without falses? Maybe a timing is the false. SFOS wait not enough at the upload process? I don’t know. I will test and if I found a solution I will share it here.
