It seems a bug of browser history switch patch, if you disable it, it works fine
I don’t have that patch installed. Out of curiosity, what does it do and how do you recon it affects input behavior?
I thought that you have browser history switch patch installed, what is the patch are you referring in MODIFICATIONS?
In my case, I have browser history switch patch installed, if it is enabled I have exactly the same issue as you, if I disable it, backspace deletes only one character, so it works fine.

Unfortunately my phone is in a unusable state right now, so I cannot check the full patch name, but its functionality is to try to fix right hand swipe, that sometimes fails due to bad responsiveness/bad calibration of boundary values.
