AusweisApp BUND and NFC

Honestly, I can’t relate.
I gave up on using J1 and after a couple years I saw somewhere that there will be sfosX.
Checked the forum a bit (the old one), found a cheap XC, started customizing it and then started asking questions that I could not find answers to.
This is what looks reasonable to me if you want to test and evaluate something.
What you described also sounds very similar to this.

What I am referring to is someone coming here, spends minimal to no time researching and then hopes that everything will work out like any other platform.

The answers are here, videos and reviews exist as well, and you can also find dirty cheap devices to run sfos on, officially or not.
Unless you don’t want that and it’s fine. But I have a feeling that if someone is not willing to do the (basics) above, he probably won’t be able to use sfos daily.

But not everyone do it like you or me. I had something like +25k post read when I started to actually play with sfos. Okay that was do to being broke, but I know my research was much more than average user does. Most people probably spend few hours looking their option before they start to ask questions. And this forum is quite puzzle to find all information you might be looking so it is only natural ask things you have in your mind.

Of course I agree that it is random and not realistic at first start to make demands or tell what Jolla should do to compete with apple or something. But those comments can be left to their own value. But for example, in the beginning I just couldn’t understand why Jolla is stuck in ancient Qt (didn’t understand what Qt even is). I asked about it with mentality that is stupid, right. Got constructive and educational replies, I learned. And later I tried to research and guess how much it would cost to Jolla upgrade the Qt

And not everyone has to. All some of us ask is simply good human behavior.

  • Don’t assume all of us think there are no silly questions.

  • Don’t assume others love to spend their time with your problems.

  • Think, read, think again and then maybe post.

I deal with the new eternal September with a rapidly growing ignore list. But I might miss the moment some of our new guests get their stuff sorted.

How do you pay in restaurants, showing your identity or login to public service needing second factor authorization?

It’s not much, but enough to use an android/apple device.

Mastercard. Cash as often as possible (they love that).

Passport. Make em flip pages.

Foilauth. And or pks cert (ie. elster). Yubikey is more or less retired.

ausweisapp I need about once in 24 months. I do that on a laptop.

Do you also often have to pay for those I-never-had-cash-on-me-for-years-since I-have my-iPhone friends?

It is good to live that lifestyle. Mine is different and doesn’t matter if physical or digital illusion of the value for money is used in daily life.

But I think that you the possibility of participation with android/ ios systems is important to me while the transition phase.

At least it is the reason to still use my android device, while I try to dailydrive flx1s. That and phosh and that some things are restricted because of halium.

What is the Jolla about regarding Halium?

Of course I have a VISA card but yes, I also take care to always have cash with me. It’s perfectly anonymous.
I rarely have to show my identity. but then I use my driver’s license.
My bank uses 2FA and it involves a clever if outdated system that is safe enough for me.
I can use my bank’s 2FA in most other situations that require it. It’s a service they provide.
But if that shouldn’t be possible anymore, I know that SFOS has both native apps and appsupport for that.

For most other online stuff I use tertiary email addresses and really long random passwords.

And to add one more: transportation: I used to have another card for that, chargeable at dedicated machines. Now I live out in the boonies and rarely use busses, but if I do they also take my VISA card.

And for most of the above: I can do it online from the comfort of my home. But my laptop also runs an OS that you would probably consider a weird lifestyle…

Seriously? Using a browser instead of an app is a “Lifestyle” now?
I think you’re vastly overstating things here.
This says more about you than it says about me.

I understand, but I don’t like to work around of th things I use in daily life. Being private is fine like you choose it to.

My primary reason to use Linux phone is the inconvenient truth that sneaking ads and subtle manipulation all around me directly in my palm is really not of my interest.

Privacy and security is secondary because privacy feels like an illusion irl and security is a dying synonym for inconvenience.

Browser is a suitable option, just need to hide the browser buttons, they only use screen on the phone. How about progrssive web apps. I use them on furiOS. It’s okay, but really working it is not. Allways junping windows and pictures…still in devolpment I would say.

Now I’m curious, what is it?
Mine’s Arch Linux XFCE on a ThinkPad T530
