Are there still connectivity issues with C2?

I wrote it also on the other thread:
I noticed the same WLAN behavior on my Sony XZ2 Compact (community port) just before I started daily-driving the Jolla C2 in November 2024, so I conclude an update to a WLAN Software component before SFOS 5.0 introduced this strange problem.

My C2 wouldn’t do gps before the update. (csd tool - gpsinfo) After a reflash and the latest update, gps works again. But no gyro or compass.
Wifi works very slow, compared to my xperia 10 III and my xperia XZ2. Streaming a video is not comfortable with al the hickups in playback, downloading app updates from aurora store takes 3x’s as long as my 2 other phones. Didn’t test with mobile network yet, but wifi should not be so slow …

Missed calls is another issue that I’m having during the reported WiFi/Cellular switching issues.
These will devert to my Android device when they happen.
Another hiccup last night when the phone didn’t switch from WiFi to Cellular when I left home.
The WiFi icon in the status area was greyed out and the cellular data icon was missing until I restarted the phone.

Since there is no WiFi calling this should be a separate issue. Or why do you bunch it in here?

That’s because it’s related to the issue outlined by other posters with regard to Cellular not switching back to WiFi and vice versa.
i.e WiFi not switching to Cellular when out of range and Cellular not switching back to WiFi when coming back into range.

Update. Things have been quite stable over the last few days.
Phone has been switching between WiFi and mobile network without issues. :+1: :crossed_fingers:
I ferckled around in App Support Settings, but not sure if I changed something, didn’t make a note

I’ve noticed that there are multiple different issues:

  • version 5.0.0.71 (not updated to 5.0.0.72 yet)
  • no SIM
  • A: wifi stops working, no way to know, except some apps go offline, moving out or range doesn’t work, wifi listing is frozen; fixed by turning wifi off and back on again
  • B: very rarely (only happened once so far, i think), wifi stops working, no way to know, wifi listing does update, but no wifi at all works, only full reboot seems to actually fix this issue.

Point A is not specific to C2 or 5.0 release. I had that ocasional issue in the past on other phones as well. Currently it happens about once per month on daily driven C2.

I don’t ever remember point B.

Still getting the odd hiccup myself. Mobile data regularly shows “Limited Connectivity” until I switch it off and on again. Difficult to tell if you’re using WiFi or Mobile Data when in range of both, i.e When checking for O/S updates most times it says “Could not check for updates. Connect to internet” error. Go to WiFi settings to check that and it performs an update check as normal after that, without making any changes.

Thst seems opearator specific.

I have Jolla 1, Jolla C and now Jolla C2. only have this issue on the C2 and its like a couple of times a week. I’ve never seen this on other phones, they will show limited connectivity, or disconnect or re-connect. but for C2 you just don’t know it’s not working.

I listed both issues, because I’ve seen people complain that they have to reboot the phone for it to work, and i hadn’t experienced it, until a couple of weeks ago.

I feel the issue has been getting worse on my C2 running 5.0.0.77. Nine times out of ten it fails to automatically reconnect to my WiFi when it comes within range with “Limited Connectivity” displayed in the settings.
The “Limited Connectivity” is displayed in the cellular settings also. Everything fails at this stage, no calls come through, I can’t make calls or send SMS and there’s no internet connectivity.
Sometimes just switching to airplane mode for a few minutes will reset it and everything will be fine.
But it’s getting to the point where nothing but a re-boot will fix the issue.
It’s got to the stage where I’m now considering cancelling my new Jolla Phone order, unless the issue is fixed or it can be confirmed the new phone won’t suffer the same issues.

Did you test it with CSD. As that is strange. It might not be SFOS issue but the phone hardware.
As I encounter WiFi connectivity issue maybe once a month. Don’t remember any calls issues after my provider enabled VoLTE more then a year ago.

I’ve tested with CSD and all tests pass.
This is an issue that started with the Sony Experia before I got the C2. Is there an app that logs what is going on in the background that may flag something up?
I’ve just come back within range of my WiFi after being away for 2 hours and this time it re-established the connection without problems.
Cellular is showing as “Limited Connectivity” while WiFi is enabled. Switch off WiFi and cellular goes to “Connected”.

I noticed this as well but thought it had something to do with my new SIM card rather than yet another network-related bug on the C2. Good to know I shouldn’t send any angry messages to my provider!

Recently I’ve been experiencing the broken network, where it completely refuses to connect to anything, multiple times a day, and constantly having to restart the phone is driving me mad..

I strongly suspect HW issue. But maybe you both should fill a proper bug report just in case.

The issue raised it’s ugly head with a Sony Xperia update and it’s been on and off ever since, so I can’t imagine a hardware issue. It was a lot worse on the Experia, I remember a lot of folks having the same issue.
But so far I’ve only experienced 3 incidents since my last post.
