DESCRIPTION:

AppSupport can be turned on even if it is disabled via privacy switch by uninstalling Android application.

PRECONDITIONS:

Have at least one Android application installed

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Set disable AppSupport as privacy switch option
  2. Turn on the privacy switch
  3. Remove Android application via app grid

EXPECTED RESULTS:

AppSupport should stay as turned off and Android application uninstallation should not be allowed

ACTUAL RESULTS:

AppSupport turns on and the Android application is being uninstalled

Also be aware that using the J2 Privacy switch to switch off AppSupport does not do the same thing as stopping/starting AppSupport from the Android™ AppSupport menu. With the Privacy switch, the Android background processes are still there and resume normally once the switch is reset.

I just tested that AppSupport does get started for Android application uninstallation (there is even a popup for this), but it also looks as though it immediately shuts down afterwards. But, Signal background stuff is now active even though the Android™ AppSupport menu says “Disabled by privacy mode”.

PS. The Privacy switch menu spells it as “Appsupport”, without the CamelCaps. Which is correct?
