Maybe the application requires GSF. Usually this is remarked in Aurora. Do you run microtube or OpenGAPPS on your device? Otherwise this app might not be possible to be used.
Ofcourse i meant microg and not microtube.

A lot of apps that say they require Google Services still work. Some of their functionality may be compromised. For example I use SportsTracker. It requires Google Services. It still records my activities perfectly, it just cannot display the map of where I’ve been. I can see all that on any other device that run GSF
