App ideas to develop for Sailfish OS

True. Could be very nice too.
Even if calendar could only show lightweight information like [full | half | empty] moon, approx every week, as time change is shown twice a year.

Yea… would love to do that, but I’m not really a dev. I’m just cheating with the little I’ve learned from others.

This could be something done in the weather widget, where the moon shown for night time is the actual phase.

Is it open source? Couldn’t find anything on the page.

There is a link to the Gitlab repo at the end of the article.

What about a client for Jango Radio?

Car ODB2 diagnostic.
Full, with tyre pressure sensors and abs etc.

GUI for Sailjail would be useful. By now I do all changes manually.

Great idea! I remember trying a native app at some point, but never got it working on my old transporter, so now I don’t even remember it’s name. I’m pretty sure it’s on OpenRepos though… or maybe not.

OBDFish?

Yep, that’s the one… and I still have the same old transporter. We do want to preserve the climate, don’t we?

It doesn’t work with OpenG and AAS?

Speaking of calendars, it would be nice if the Calendar application could somehow show different calendars, too, as in different from the Gregorian calendar. Of course Jolla currently only sells in countries that use the Gregorian calendar, but it would nevertheless be useful.

I don’t have JP 2026 yet and I am not developer but I have done QA for couple decades with test automation. I would like to have Ford EV app for SFOS. I noticed that there are pypi packages for that purposes already but getting ported in to Sailfish requires AI to make development work in my case. But I would make good unit tests to app and test it properly and of course publish the code as open source. Let’s see if/when I am motivated to try this out.

I would love an app like Regenvorschau (Android and iOS). Rain preview not animated, just time and direction with a map…

Nextcloud Talk with all features working, including HD (H.265) audio/video calls and screen sharing.

Actually a single Nextcloud Talk Qt app working the same on all mobile OS (SailfishOS + iOS + AndroidOS) with all those features out-of-the-box would be just awesome.

There seems to be multiple forks of the original OBDFish in OpenRepos and Github. I ended to fork deepbluev7 version and could make an app for me for my Jolla C2 5.1.0.11. With an app I could switch off the engine warning light of my Citroen C5 2007 car using my old OBD2 adapter.

As far as I understand the situation with the forks is, that the original app in the Openrepos (and in the creators Github) is 32bit only, and people have forked it over the years to create 64bit packages for more modern devices.

For example one created by @explit is linked in one of the issues posted on the original creators issue-tracker

While i am not a developer - i recompiled the app for 64bit. Now its much easier with AI. As soon as my J2 will arrive, i will try to build it against new OS versions

I’d love a decent app for connecting to my navidrome instance - currently I use Arpeggi on iOS
