Oh he made ffmpeg ? And you know him personally ? I mean thats that’s pretty cool. I mean i am still a bit skeptical, on the website there is supported only for old nvidia cards and it says it runs only on x86 cpus. But i mean if you can get arm binaries and could make them run i am all for seing how far can it go.
The whole thing just looks to me a bit like its stuck in 2022. Even the models and benchmarks on the website are old. I mean in that time Llama has come a log way and became an industry standard basically. No idea if the synth server was faster then, maybe it was and maybe it might be even now. But i also wouldn’t be surprised at all if the difference reversed now. I don’t wanna be a hater tho. I mean i am curious and i’d even try it out but i don’t have a nvidia gpu.
When i said that the model i tested on jolla phone was slow i meant that it was slow because it was running under not at all ideal conditions.
Yes, he made ffmpeg and we are acquainted. Yeah, it’s a bit dated work, for sure, but his improvements on llama were pretty stunning (obviously he looked at early llama). Edit: current state is at https://textsynth.com/ with some newer models.
Still, the main point is probably that it’s not open. Every thing I do is open and as you rightly point out, llama makes progress on constant public development. I’ll give it a go in the next couple of days. I have a server where it’s running, too, but I’ll try on phone ( maybe small with Llama-3.2-3B-Instruct-Q4_0.gguf) I have to admit I’m not to confident but what the hell.
Garmin’s not so friendly to 3rd party development so there might be some brute force required to get something working. Too bad, too, since I normally like to support hometown businesses and my kid has a “Junior” edition Garmin that we can only talk to with their (lame) proprietary app.
OTOH, the people on Team-Amazfish are really great, and I think would welcome contributions that broadened the scope of that nice app.
In the native browser you can store a link in the app grid and there you can put all links together in a folder you could giva a name as you please. And it’s stored locally, after all.
Yes but like i sayd this could be optional feature, for emergy workers to get only access for people who want it to let access for them. You can always have disabled this option, like turning fingerprint option off in airports etc.
Not in store anymore for some reason. Could be forked (MIT licence) if the devs aren’t updating it. I know @direc85 has a lot going on, don’t know about the rest.
I haven’t used the app in years. Later YLE discontinued the API that the app used, I think, I got an email about it from YLE but didn’t check what it exactly was.
Then again, since browser is in a much better shape nowadays, YLE Areena just works, on my Jolla Phone at least
A rather simple type of app, (I think) is a soundboard app. I’m surprised no one did that yet. Well, someone actually did fwiw, but it hasn’t been updated in ages:
This is not the same as a music player. You select the sounds and you play them on your loudspeaker when the situation requires it
