Android in-app camera is very dark

REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
OS VERSION: 4.5.0.21
HARDWARE: Sony Xoeria 10 III
UI LANGUAGE: Finnish
REGRESSION: Not sure

DESCRIPTION:

When taking a photo in an embedded camera of an Android app (e.g. WhatsApp, Joe) the preview and the image taken are very dark. A photo taken with Jolla Camera turns out ok in the same conditions.

Edit: This was reproducible with Joe after reboot, but WhatsApp QR camera now functions fine.

PRECONDITIONS:

Have X10III with Android support installed, and an application that takes “embedded photos”.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Take a photo in emgm WhatsApp QR code view or Joe scoot rent app after a ride

EXPECTED RESULT:

The photo has appropriate brightness

ACTUAL RESULT:

The photo is very dark

Earlier today I took a picture with Joe, and it was so dark it was haed to make out what’s in the picture. The image didn’t auto adjust; most of it was just black. Right after I tested Camera, and the brightness was fine there. I didn’t take screenshots unfortunately, but will do the next time I hit this.

IIRC, this has happened tge opposite way too; the image was burned mostly white.
