DESCRIPTION:

Using native Android-apps, the camera field keeps black, doesn’t dhow the QR-code.

PRECONDITIONS:

All apps had the necessary privileges for camera, the scanning sometimes worked before.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. Open an Android-app like Covid Cert, CovPass or Signal.
  2. Try to scan QR-code.

EXPECTED RESULTS:

Code is scanned in the app.

ACTUAL RESULTS:

Nothing happens, the field stays black.

    Advanced camera app is installed.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

After a reboot, scanning worked with the three mentioned apps directly. Can’t remember, if I had problems to scan with “Cov Cert”-App before, several certificates were already scanned (before 4.4.0.72); this time I had these problems.

Perhaps an app has reserved the camera. Does Jolla Camera work when you get the black screen?

I’ll try to test this, when I encounter the issue again. Some special “journalctl”-logs of interest, too?

Perhaps someone else can interpret the logs, I don’t think I can get a lot out of them. Better to have them and not need them, as usual

Signal for Android is notorious for reserving the camera; I have experienced that myself and that’s why I suggested trying Jolla Camera.
